I have 5 boiler chickens one died yesterday. All the boiler chickens feathers are falling out and sores around there butts. Now today two are falling over. Yesterday I moved them to there new coop. I had to very small cages I got for them bieng chicks. The gentleman who was building my coop took 6 weeks and it still isn't done. The run will be completed today. All of the rhode island reds & silkies are fine. I spayed there butts with Blu- Kote a few days ago. I am at a loss as what to do. Thank You for any help you can give me.

Hi I am new to this but from what I understand about broilers is that they will break their legs when they get over 8 weeks old, and their body grows faster than their skin so they do lose their feathers. They get so heavy so fast they will get to heavy for their legs. That is what I was told about the jumbo cross cornish hens I bought. Hope this helps!

I thought I would give an update. Today all the chickens are looking happier and healther. I still don't know what it was. All I can think is since they didn't get much exersise becasue the coop wasn't finished in time. Maybe they just needed time to adjust. Feathers coming out I have no clue. We bought the boilers for meat but since we do not know 1 if we can do it and 2 what was wrong with them, they will not be on our table. Now the mean rhode island reds.....that is a different story.
