I wasn’t sure where to put this because I’m not sure if it’s actually a problem or not...

First time chicken mama worry of the day:

I’ve noticed the last couple days some of the chicken’s feathers are separated and not “perfect” looking. Also on my barred rock a few of her feathers are looking curled up at the ends. Is there a health issue I’m overlooking or is this normal?? They seem fine otherwise. They are 7.5 weeks old and the first one is 5.5 weeks

My chicks look the same! They’re about 8 weeks now and they seem to be very healthy too. I’m a first time chicken mom too so I’m not sure if I know enough but I think they’re ok 😁

I'd say your feathers are fine. The concern is very normal. You'll likely find something to worry about every week or so! I certainly do, as do many people here.
Just do your best, research here and there, and feel free to ask the community where needed. Also, remember to take advice with a grain of salt. Everybody manages their flocks a little different.

Thank you! Definitely just the worry of the day lol. Always something 😆

I love this forum! Always so helpful

I can't answer your question, but I must say those feathers are quite pretty!

Thank you! I love their colors and how they’re changing so much, they just looked a little less perfect now. Maybe it’s their small indoor space? We are waiting for our coop to be done for them to go outside full time.

Feathers grow in at different rates. You get some shorter/stubbier, and they don't always look best. Just wait til they moult! Goodness, any odd feather loss or growth can seem stressful!
Enjoy your flock! I bet they're beautiful!

I just feel like a few days ago all their feathers were perfect and smooth looking. Maybe I’m crazy 😜
