Feathers

How long does it normally take for coturnix quail to fully feather out? Mine hatched this past weekend and I'm already seeing the change from fuzzy baby to shiny new feather shafts.

I have no idea, since my Coturnix coturnix are just eggs yet in the incubator. But, my button quail that were hatched last week between Tuesday and Friday are all losing their baby fuzz and getting feathers. I think they'll be able to fly by the end of the weekend, as they like to sort of stand up and test their little wings, and the primaries are already almost grown.

They should be fully feathered by 3 weeks.

They do grow very quickly. If you consider that they will be laying eggs at 6 weeks they sure better have feathers by then

It does seem like they have most of their feathers by a couple weeks but they do continue to molt as they increase their size. truely amazing how fast the mature.
