Feathers

[Agnes the Wonder Chicken]

One of my chickens, her name is No Neck, has no neck feathers. She did not have any when I got her as a chick and she still does not have any a year and a half later. We do not have any mites or anything like that. She is just that way. Is there another reason for this? Or is this just some weird genetic thing?

She is a Rhode Island Red, her two sisters are just fine. She is not ill or anything, she just looks funny.

If she has never had feathers on her neck, she is probably a mix. Unless you hatched her and only have RIR in your flock, you can't always be certain about their heritage.

hmmmm.... that does not look like a turken, or typical for Naked Neck mutation. Looks like she has her own style going on. Cute pic!
