I'm just a beginner, but I bought one of those small LED Mag Lites at Walmart. It works great on the white eggs.I'm going to wait a few more days before I try it on my brown eggs.

Mine are due to hatch on the 21st but if they are the OEGBs they will be on the 19th. I am not even sure what I have in the bator other than they are all definately banties. All have been running together & it might just be a mixed bag.

I have silkie/cochins, OEGBs & some of my silkie/cochin girls have been mating with the silkie/cochin boys, a full sized roo & the OEGB roos (2 of them). So it will be interesting to see if all the eggs I threw in the bator are fertilized or not. Some girls are new layers & the boys are new to mating as well.

I broke a couple of eggs open to see if they were fertilized & they were.

So I have 28 egg in the bator.

for some fertilized eggs!

Good luck everyone....I am going to candle on the 7th or 8th.

I've got a test batch of standard Dark Brahmas due the 19th. I'll candle on thursday. I hope Edgar is doing his job. I also have some Porcelain Dutch Bantams due the 23th.

I have 3 blue silkie eggs under my white broody silkie. Those eggs are from my blue silkie hen. Two eggs are due on 18th. One of them is due on 20th. My blue silkie is still laying and not broody yet, so one of my white silkie which is broody now is holding them. I candled them. Isaw little spiders in them!

I just candled, and it looks like 5 oegb eggs werent fertile. 4 self blues and 1 black breasted red. Then 2 salmon faverolles might not be fertile, but i left them to make sure.

But everybody else looks great. All the rest have nice veins.

I have some Silkies due to hatch on the 17th, but my last batch was due to hatch on the 31st or 1st and only one is pipping now! So I may be hatching on the 19th or 20th... who knows!

I just hope they hatch!

I'm a tad bit ahead of you all. Mine are due on the 17th. Lets see, I have a total of 36 in the "Super" bator. 12 Rhode Island Reds, 12 Golden Buffs?? (that's what they marked on the box. I think their Buff O's) and 12 Black Jersey Giants.
These are some eggs I won at a local animal auction. My addiction kicked in as I was looking for a Rhode Island White roo. I'm going to Candle in the next day or two and see how everybody is doing.

I have some blue/black silkie eggs due on the 19th. not many, was basically just setting up the incubators and throwing in a few eggs to check for fertility which is at 100%

Set some others in yesterday and others a few days ago.
