Actually, Lil guy just got out. So now two left with two pips. Just into day 23. Unless I totally lost track of my days...
They just started pip this a.m. Hopefully, they will progress.

Yay!!! Glad you got one! Crossing my fingers for more!:fl

All the chicks are soo cute! I am a first time hatcher and my chicks are due to hatch next Friday. I'm hatching in a Brinsea Eco 20 on an auto turner and I absolutely love the ease.

My chicks due on Friday are 4 Bielefelder, 2 Blue Isbar, 3 Cream Leg Bar and 4 Lemon Cuckoo Buff Orpingtons. I think one of the cream leg bar and 1 of the orpintons are not developed but I saw something so I left them in until I know for sure. All the rest were clearly developed.
I told my husband yesterday that I really needed these chicks to hatch so I could get my mind on my family and work:) Who knew I would be so consumed by these chicks! Can't wait to see more cute chicks
Welcome to hatching and I see to BYC. Good luck with your approaching hatch. It can be very addictive

Sorta been lost this week without something cooking in the bator. It had been running since Nov. with different hatches. Will be hatching again in about a month, can't wait.

Edited to add that I am absolutely drooling over your selection of eggs. Mine have only been barnyard mixes. I'm hoping someday to have some of those varieties.

thank you so much! I was lucky enough to find a lady on eBay (Darby Ridge Chicks) that had a really great selection of all the eggs I was wanting. I asked her if she would make me a listing with the combo of eggs I listed (Biels, blue isbar, cream legbar, and lemon orp). She was so nice and let me get a mix. I had a wonderful experience with her. The eggs were each wrapped individually with a heat pad under some of the filler and the box was filled and packed wonderfully. Not a single break. The first candling showed all 14 eggs fertile. 1 since has up but I couldn't have been happier.
Does anyone think a heat pad would effect the hatch date? Just wondered if it was possible they could have begun developing enroute. Made me wonder if I should turn my turner off a day early just in case.

The most common heat pads I've seen are the Uniheat 72 hour warmers. Those reach a peak temp of 115* then mellow to a consistent 100-105*. HOWEVER, depending on how close it was to the eggs, how cold it was outside, and other factors, there is no way to know if it got your eggs over the 65-75* typical room temperature that most eggs are stored at... Since some people suggest lockdown at day 18 and some at day 19, I'd just stop your turner on day 18 and call it good! :)

Hmm that's a good question. It wouldn't hurt the eggs to stop turning a day earlier, but I dont know if I would increase the humidity on that day. I would say candle them on day 17 and if you see any internal pips then increase the humidity if you do.

My sole svarthona hatcher

I just looked this breed up on feathersite. They are also called swedish black hens. These are so cool and my first time hearing about them. I just learned that they have black skin like the silkies. Nice. I have a few swedish flower hens, which I'm hoping to get more. So many cool breeds, so little space, lol.

They are beautiful birds....Black melanistic. I ordered some from Greenfire farms also because I would really like to start breeding them and want to add to my egg hatchers. They are a bit more endangered and rare than the Ayem Cemani. I am going to buy more eggs too once the weather hits the 40's from the gal I ordered my eggs from before. She has a beautiful line. **** cold here and the post office don't help the hatching out any! They are also not a huge bird.

At the local feed store Chick Days are coming!!!

That means my solo chick can have a friend who was hatched less than a week later. DH will go fetch the Welsummer pullet(s) as soon as the doors open on Thursday morning.
