Depending on temperatures, they can be over or under a day... More or less it's true. Also depends on what time of day you set them. Before noon, yes. After noon, not so much.

Well I'm starting to loose hope for my incubator eggs. I just started day 23 and no pips. I thought there may have been some rocking overnight since two eggs are now touching, but I haven't seen anything else. My Janoel was running about 5 degrees low for at least 18 hours, maybe 24 around days 5-6. That's when I switched to the LG still air. What's the latest anyone has had a hatch?

At this point, if there are no pips, I would candle them and take a peek and see if there is any movement. Be careful not to let your humidity escape too much and fill up your water reservoirs quickly while you are in there...

Some breeds come early and some come late! I have had day 23 & 24 hatchers and some day 19. I hope for you that yours are just late because of your heat and will be ok!

Here's the little lone White Marans that hatched out.

It'll have a couple of fresh hatched Welsummer friends on Thursday.
(Hooray for Chick Days at the feed store!)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told by a breeder that your eggs (for chickens) should hatch the same day of the week as you set them. For example, if you set on a Friday, they would hatch three weeks later, ON Friday. Doing the math, let's say Friday is the 1st of the month, three weeks later would be the 22nd. Exactly 21 days later.
Yes, that's correct math and it goes hourly also. Day 1 is 24 hours after set.

(However, my math was fuzzy, Somehow, I had mentally marked my post office arrival date as my set date (Thursday) instead of Friday afternoon when they hit the incubator. Mine have been meticulous hatching on day 21 in the cabinet. Yesterday morning was still day 21 for me...so, they were right on time. )

My Jan/Feb hatch rate has run from ZERO to 100% on shipped eggs. Luck of the draw.

I thought this was hysterical...too bad there is so much condensation.

Ditto on that
