Looks like you're rooster crazy like meHes going to be fabulousi specifically picked this breed by how the roosters look
They join a flock of EEs and RIR
I believe it's all about upbringingI love the roosters! But they have to be nice or manageable.
I think both yes and no on that. I had 9 total out of my order last year. 3 where I'm going to say high drive. Once they where grown they liked to kick me in the calf. They had no more interaction than the other 6.I believe it's all about upbringing
Well like I said upbringingI think both yes and no on that. I had 9 total out of my order last year. 3 where I'm going to say high drive. Once they where grown they liked to kick me in the calf. They had no more interaction than the other 6.
They where not super bad cockerells but I didn't have the infrastructure to work on their behavior.
One out of the other 6 bites. Doesn't really attack but I'll be washing waters or moving stuff and he will try to eat a finger if I dont have gloves on or a toe if I'm in flip flops.
Two of them just don't see me as chicken. They listen to me if they are in a pickle. Like if they end up out of the fence and can't get back in but other than that I'm not on their radar.
I have one that is very layed back knows me and just comes around wanting food or is just shadowing the last two.
The last two acknowledge me. One is pretty much head of the flock the other is bottom of the flock. Dean the bottom follows me like a dog and King watches me and let's me know about things he doesn't like and will show me.
They all have their personalities and sometimes those don't mesh with ours. Some of that can be remedied by interactions and teaching and some can not. I was medium hands on with I'm interactions with them. I really don't think the ignore the male works all the time nor does being super hands on. I think it takes evaluating the situation and making judgement calls based on the cockerell or rooster at had and his response to you.
