In with the chickies!
i have a baby chick that for some reson her feces is sticking to her behind! her behind looks a little swollen too. its realy discusting. what i'm doing is takeing a warm cloth and softening and pulling it off daily its realy hard and if theres a way to get it off permently please tell me or if you know what it is tell me!

it sounds like "pasty-butt" some of our chicks have gotten that. What you're doing is exactly what I do. But if it has a really fluffy bottom sometimes its best to have someone help and clip away some of the fluff so that the poo doesnt have anywhere to get stuck to. We've done that and it never caused any problems, just less time of me having to always clean the paste :) The reason it seems swollen is b/c it cant poo due to its vent being clogged

thx well at least now i know what it is and what i'm doing is ok. but is their anyway to get the vent unclogged to get rid of it? keep the swelling down? any kind of medicated drops or something?

i'm just worried. i never thought i'd love the chicks this mutch but now my world revolves around them.

We never used any drops or anything. Clipping the feathers away from the vent always worked for us. It is so amazing how attached you become with chickens, we've been doing the chicken thing a little over a year now and wouldn't change it for anything. We have 4 kids ranging from 14-7 and it teaches them alot about life and responsibility!
