Cats can give you toxoplasmosis if you don't wash your hands after changing the litter box and then go eat lunch. Any animal kept in confinement needs a certain amount of care and the human caretakers need to follow common sense precautions.
Precisely!
Hi Jersey! And welcome to BYC! I'm in Warren County.

I looked up how many reported cases of salmonella there are from all causes in the U.S. every year -- 1.2 million.

So out of 1.2 million, they can trace 212 to backyard chickens and that's a news story?

It's a good thing they got .017% nailed down.

And pets like reptiles and turtles and rodents can also give you the same thing why isn’t this major news ??
Because the ag-biz complex want people to think that growing and raising your own food is dangerous. Reptile raising doesn't cut into their bottom line.

Excellent point, and excellent post!!!!

I wonder how many states, and how many people in those states were affected by colds within the same time frame.
