What in the world! ANY animal can carry this, including cats and dogs. Do we need a federal agency to tell us to wash our hands after touching animals?

Time to get vocal before one of these out-of-touch (or whatever) agencies tries to restrict citizens from having our own chickens!

So 212 please are sick from backyard flocks, but what about the recent egg recalls hmm???? Practice safe food handling and good hygiene. Nothing is 100% safe,but it's up to you do protect yourself.

If raising flocks had never been restricted more people would have raised them and more people would have learned how to be safe. This knowledge is going the way of the dodo bird along with so much common sense information that our grandparents took for granted.

I looked up how many reported cases of salmonella there are from all causes in the U.S. every year -- 1.2 million.

So out of 1.2 million, they can trace 212 to backyard chickens and that's a news story?

It's a good thing they got .017% nailed down.

Because the ag-biz complex want people to think that growing and raising your own food is dangerous. Reptile raising doesn't cut into their bottom line.
