Like y'all said, an absolute waste. I bet you dollars to donuts that even if they weren't set up for processing they could have put in an ad for uber cheap geese and surrounding citizens would have purchased those birds ... snapped them up I bet.. but darn, a phone call, email, or fax to the paper is just too much work. I can't believe the more prudent route (in their minds) was slaughtering them... boggles the mind and scares the crap outta me... these are the people in charge of health care. *shudder*

The thought is there. if they had rounded them up and offered them as 'food', they would have had few takers.
On the other hand, some organization could have claimed them, killed them, dressed them and cooked them.
Maybe start preparing for next year?
