My first question is my ducks are currently on flock raiser crumble. They are old enough to go to the next level but I am unsure what to give them. Is there a certain feed for ducks? or can I use chicken feed? I have four pekins and I believe only one is female. The other three are much quieter than "Peggy". I would give them layer food but I don't know if the males can have that.

My second questions is my ducks are losing feathers at a high rate. I live in the UP of Michigan and we are having unseasonably high temperatures. I have fixed their pen area with tarps to give them more shade but they are losing feathers everyday. I know they molt in the fall but it almost seems like they are doing it now. Is this okay? They have a pool that they swim in and I run the sprinkler for them every so often to help them keep cool. We have been in the high 80's low 90's for over a week and the month of July is supposed to be the same. I got them the beginning of May so they are about 8-9 weeks old.

The feathers they are losing are little feathers.

Flock Raiser can be fed from hatch, all the way to death. Just supply them with a calcium source once they are starting to lay. The chickens can eat it too.

Just so you're aware, a three to one ratio will not work in any way. You'll either need to get rid of two of the males, get rid of the female, and have an all-male flock, which may or may not work, or buy at least 12 more females to accommodate the males in your flock.

They'll do a little molt at that age, normal.

Thank you. How soon do I need to get rid of the males? I wanted females for the eggs.
