Yesterday while I was sitting on the throne and reading a poultry cataloge I read that you should only feed what they's eat before noon each day because if chickens are overfed their eggs will become too large too lay.

I fill up their feeder and waterer on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. My 8 six month old BOs are giving 4 or 5 eggs a day.

What say the experts?

I have food available for my chickens 24/7 and believe that most people do as well. I have never had a problem.

My chickens have access to a feeder at all times and at lunch I will bring them "treats". I do not have any issues feeding this way.

also, chickens always eat before going to bed to keep warm during the night. so if you feed them only before the afternoon, they might not have enough cals to keep warm

Feed twice a day In the morning an about an hour before they start moving into the coup.
