I have read a lot about feeding an egg to chickens and how much they enjoy it. I scrambled up some eggs for the kids this morning and I took a little to the chicks (3-4 weeks old, 1 is 5 weeks old) and they had no interest in it at all. They seemed more upset that the little dish was taking up space than anything else. They all poked it around a little but none seemed to eat any.

Are they too young? Am I wrong for feeding it to them this early? It was not hot or even warm - room temp.

My wife just finished 3 dozen, [3 yesterday also] and most of our young birds love them, some days more than others maybe! We do no salt no pepper and also cook crushed shell with it. Yummy, it is breakfast time!!!!!

I will try a boiled egg later today. I should have gotten these chicks a month ago, we had TONS of boiled eggs at easter time! LOL
I did try the yogurt thing with the scrambled eggs but again, no interest.

They dont even seem to be interested in the little mirror that I put in there for them. How come they wont let me spoil them?

6 chicks in a 4' X 4' brooder with pine shavings. It's not like their crowded. I even change the water twice a day because one of the few things they seem to take great joy in, is throwing shavings into the water and then pooping in it! I cant raise it off the floor yet with a brick because 4 of them are bantams and they wouldn't be able to reach it.

Chickens are afraid of new things, so you have to leave the food in with them awhile. Once one of them gets brave enough to try it, the others will follow. After they do, be sure and use the same bowl every time you offer them a treat. They'll come to associate that bowl with good things to eat.
