Have 2 month old pullets (12) doing great. Staying in coop, run, with a 2-4 of hours of free ranging per day.

Have been feeding them the Medicated Starter Crumbles to this point - Nothing more other that adding some medication to waterers.

Question or advice needed - When should I switch off of this Medicated Starter? What should I switch to next? When should I start feeding a layer pellet? (I know we are 2-4 months out from actually stating to lay) .... When should I introduce grit/oyster shell... to diet? .... or can they get enough grit from their free ranging?

Thanks for comments!!

What kind of medication are you putting in the water and why?

Layer feed and oyster shell shouldn't be started until they begin to lay at about 20-22 weeks.

Grit is only needed if you give them whole grains or other tough things that need to be ground up in the gizzard. Unneeded for birds only fed chicken feed or those that free range.

I would switch to an unmedicated grower feed when your current bag runs out.
I don't feed medicated. They get a grower crumble from the beginning.
