Hey geese people!! I have 3 eggs in the bator due on the 26th.. YAY..

The feed store has "Manna Pro, Trip-L-duty" feed. It is meant for chickens, ducks and geese. For all stages of life...Non medicated, 16% protien. I have used it for chicks in the past, and they all faired well on it, but I've never had geese before, so figured I would ask.

Would that be ok to start my geese out on?

With my goslings, I had them on 20% chick starter for the first couple of weeks. I had heard about folks having nutrition troubles and having to give them special diets...so I did some research and the regular feed for chicks does not have the necessary levels of selenium, vit b, and vit e in it to keep them healthy for long.

To abate problems, I added crushed selenium and b complex tablets once a day into their food, and gave them vit E one gel cap per day into their beak.

Bonus, it kept them very friendly due to the added contact.

Now I go swimming with my nearly-grown pilgrim babies in the creek!! They stay close and will even leave "their" flock of ducks and other geese (ones I did not hatch) to come be with me when I am doing yard work.

But I digress. The point is, the nutrition difference is a big deal since it can cause diseases such as "twisted neck" and soft beaks.

Giving them "treats" of letting them graze fresh grass or spinach and other greens would also help....but the vitamins from those would be more easily diested than the pill form.

Good luck, and happy hatching vibes!

Do I just crush a whole pill of the vitamin b and sprinkle it on their food? Will too much of it hurt them?

And the vitamin e, a whole gel cap per gosling??
