I have 2 keets among quite a few chicks. I got two 2 week old keets from a lady nearby. I have had them in with my chicks on chick starter without any problems. I am not able to get game bird grower where I am. The nearest place with it is a couple of hours away. I would like to move my guinea's in with my chicks that are on chick grower in a week or so. Would it be better to feed the guinea's the chick grower or to feed the guinea's and the chicks the game bird grower. I don't have the space to keep the keets on their own. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

If you got them from a lady nearby, why don't you ask what she was feeding them???? She has get to get food for her own to have given you keets. That would seem the logical solution as she should know what alternatives are available in your area.

I believe guineas need a higher protein level than is found in most chick feeds, not to mention that they shouldn't have antibiotics (i could be confused as some birds can and some can't but I think they are among those that shouldn't). I would feed everyone game bird or turkey feed to ensure a higher protein level.

I did she is the one who told me the nearest place I could get it. Which is a few hours from me.(She herself was an hour from me) She was mixing game bird feed and chick starter. I was just wondering if I should make the trek and buy the game grower and feed it to the chicks and keets or just have the keets on chick grower.

It is cheaper probably to drive an hour to get the correct feed, but as an alternative keets can be fed hard boiled chicken egg along with a lower protein feed. Since you have only three keets, just use one large egg per day finely diced and mixed with their feed.

Either way, you'll have to seperate the keets from the chickens as the chickens should not be feed the higher protein feed or the boiled egg.

I have fed guineas successfully with chick starter as well as the game bird starter and really have not seen any difference in their growth. They seem perfectly fine on the medicated versions of either. The higher protein is probably "optimal" for their development so supplementing with eggs as Munchies suggested is a great idea and easy enough to do, if you have enough eggs to go around the chicks would enjoy them too! Higher rather than lower might be a good philosophy. Extra protein will be used for energy instead of building tissues, so it won't hurt.
