Feed Meat?

If it doesn't move out of my flocks way, they will try to eat it. Seriously, I've havd my flock of BO's take bones from my 200+ LB Saint. I've pulled toads from their mouths (can you IMAGINE the egg taste from that?!!) and seen them pull a dead mole apart. I don't purposely feed them meat, they find their own.

I feed meat scraps to ours when we have them. They enjoy it and have never cannibalized each other. As others have mentioned, meat and other scraps are treats. I never feed them in large quantities.

I've fed mine left over meat and they love it. Mind you I never give them raw meat (unless you can call the worms I give them raw meat), and they only get meat occasionally as we try not to cook so much that we have left overs.

my chickens love hot dogs, if they see you w/one, watch out. They prefer the chicken flavored but they say it all tastes like Beef.

I feed my chickens eggs, meat scraps, etc. I don't have any problems with cannibalism. Chickens are omnivores. They get their protein from a variety of different sources. Lack of protein is more likely to cause cannibalism than feeding meat will.

In the wild, if the flock of Aisian Jungle Fowl (chicken ancestors) came upon a dead animal they'd be thrilled. We feed them meat, they LOVE it, and we have no cannibalism problems. We gave them a hog's head the other day... gross looking but they loved it!

chickens shouldn't have meat.

Is this your opinion or a fact based on scientific information? As others have said, chickens are OMNIVORES. Just like humans. Do people force you do be a strict vegetarian?

I've always heard it will encourage cannibalism too. I don't do it.

Feeding an omnivore what it is supposed to eat will not cause cannibalism, lack of what it is supposed to eat will!!​

The notion that chickens are sweet, kind animals will go out the window the first time you see the little dinosaurs pull apart a frog, mouse, or hot dog.

I feed mine scraps of meat, such as trimmings that the hosuehold occupants don't want. It doesn't encourage cannabilism: untreated, bleeding wounds encourages cannabilism.
