Hi all, im new to keeping hens and before I get my first ones im curious to know what ratio to mix my feed. I plan on storing my feed pre mixed in a big bin so I was wondering how much layers pellets do i mix with mixed grit and corn? (I buy my corn and layers in 20kg sacks and the grit is in 25kg sacks).

Any and all advice welcome, Thanks.

Straight layer feed, no corn, offer the grit and/or oyster shell on the side so they can get it when they want it.

Layer feed is a balanced feed. If you mix a lot of corn into it you will make it an unbalanced feed. If you just want to give them corn/scratch feed then half of a hand full per bird in the mornings is OK, but not a lot. It will only serve to make them fat and lower their egg production.

Put the grit or oyster shell in a separate cup where they can get at it when they want it.
