I have cortunix hatching eggs coming and was trying to find some Purina Startena as recommended here. The Purina site lists a couple retailers near me, but when I check those stores, they don't carry it after all.

I've checked on Amazon but the best they have is a 15lb bag clear bag (re-bagged, so it comes with no labeling) for $36!

Are there some good alternatives?

The one I use for chicks is Laucke Mills Gamebird Starter, but I think its Australian, so that's probably not very helpful. I think some people use turkey crumbles. Are there any other brands of gamebird starter where you are?

I found some chicken starter mash in my freezer -- just 20% protein. I have some turkey starter crumble (28%) that's been in my refrig for months -- don't know how long it lasts?

I'm seeing other Purina lines at our Tractor Supply, but the protein levels are at 16-18%.

The turkey started should be okay.

I use Atwood’s gamebird starter. I believe it’s 28%. It’s about $20/40 lb.

If you talk to the purina sellers in your area see if they will order it for you next time they place a feed order. Most will and shipping is usually reduced.

Did that at a local elevator. Now 3 or 4 people use it so they keep it in stock.
