Feed per chicken?

I would say a little than a third of a pound for each chicken I just did the math and that is exactly what my chickens are eating. I go through 150 lbs of feed a day by my calculations

I would not feed scratch at 50% of the chicken's diet. Some poultry scientists say don't feed scratch at all. Others say, "whatever they will clean up" in so many minutes.

Oregon State University says, "about 10 to 15 percent of their total daily food consumption."

My feed weighs about 1 pound per 3 cups.
The scratch weighs 1 pound per 4 cups.

If I measured out a pound of daily rations at a time:

2 1/2 cups feed + 1/2 cup scratch = .8325 + .125 ~ 1 pound

With that ratio, the scratch would comprise between 10% & 15% of their diet.

If you have the chickens in a coop or enclosed run they should have a third of a pound of feed per day. If they are free ranged they will eat less feed. That is for a laying hen. If you are taking about a meat bird, buy the feed store.
