Just seeing what everyone likes for feeding their flock. Have been using dumour layer in pellet form mixed with scratch grains and hanging it. I'm not convinced they like it very much.

Unless you really like wasting feed, don't mix the scratch in their layer pellets. You might want to cut out the scratch altogether. Your birds are most likely eating the scratch and pitching the pellets. This will lead to all sorts of nutritional deficiencies.

I ferment my feed, and use scratch only as black mail when I need to get them into the coop in a hurry, and sometimes when I need them to give a particular area a good deep tilling.

Also, pay attention to mill dates when you buy feed. Feed older than 6 weeks is rapidly loosing nutrients.

PM to follow.

Any one had good results with southern states layer pellets ?

I use Scratch and Peck. It's produced locally. I only have a small hobby farm- if I had a larger flock the cost would be prohibitive, but I'm very happy with the feed. It's organic, not highly processed and my girls love it. A downside is that I have to moisten a daily ration each morning to get them to eat the fines.
