feed prices not kewl

We have a feed store here that sells sooo much feed that you can buy it from them cheaper than the feed mill. I think layer crumbles were 8.95 a bag yesterday and game bird was 12.00 for a bag. Both in 50 pound bags. Before all the feed got so crazy you could buy it by the ton for hardly nothing, but not now.

blue90292, I just take what they have there,it is the same recipe each time but for meatbirds I usually get something extra to mix with it to get the % up.
They do a custom mix but there is a min,I think like 5 ton.but not sure.too much for me.I think I use like 800-1000 lbs per 40-50 birds(don't quote me)per batch.
But I think mills are the way to go if your looking to save some money.if you just have a few birds for pets, the 50lb bags are probably convienant.
Another thing I like about the mills(around my home anyways) is that they buy and resell from my farmer neighbors that have extra to sell.I like the idea that I'm buying from my neighbors and not a crop farmer from the mid-west with 30000 acres.
The only bad thing about the laying mash over pellets is that the birds seem to waste some with the mash, but not much.It is still half the cost of the brand name feed. Will
