Feed Prices on the Rise

I saw TSC put Purina Feed up $1-2 per bag. Haven't bought at the store in awhile. Ready to see what my only Kalmbach dealer is stocking right now. Been ordering from Chewy & they haven't raised it yet, but it is more expensive of course, because of free shipping. Haven't checked the Purina feed dealer. Nothing has really changed. Coming out of the pandemic everyone is happy that China is buying more, except those who have to buy feed, LOL. Remember farmers crying the blues when China quit buying because of tariffs?

The price of feed is definitely rising _ i get mine from the local feed store, one step from the local mill - There's no appreciable markup, and I'm currently feeding 500# for about $115 - but I've seen 5 price increases in the last 6 months, from a host of factors. Some just a few pennies, but the market prices of the inputs keep climbing, as does the cost of gas to transport it.

Barley doesn't trade the same way, but these are the major components of feed - while its a mixed bag at the moment, everything is still above January's prices. Oats and wheat about 10%, Soy 30%, Corn 40%. Barley is up.

Great visual, thank you for posting it!

I buy my feed at the local mill, and it's up about $2.50/bag for the non-GMO version (since this time last year). 😕
