Any know why Purina layena is now 20$ a bag? I’ve had to stop feeding it and feed a cheaper brand when it used to only be 15.99 a bag.

that lot money!!

Wall Street speculation, China buying all our corn, so there's less for us & our animals, spurring greater demand and thereby higher prices... so they say. Probably also taking advantage of an expanded customer base, with all the 1st-time pandemic chicken owners.

I personally feed the Purina. I buy 100# at a time, so its about 20$ a month (100# lasts 2 months)

I honestly think its a really good price. Before I was feeding Scratch and Peck, when I had a smaller flock, but then I tripled the flock size and it would be about 80 dollars a month, so much too pricy for a flock of 16.

Prices are likely to continue rising. Layena went up $3 a bag for me over the past month. I usually supplement with homegrown mealworms and whatever Hawaii insects crawl into the quail run, so it hasn't cut into my budget much.
