Feed Protein level confusion

I get my feed from Sauder in Grabill, IN. They suggested Game Bird Starter for peas, turkeys, and pheasants. (They are all the same family.) I have only been raising for 5 years, but I have had no problems whatsoever with the game bird feed.

The only issue I have seen with research with gamebird starter is that it is too high a protein initially. Many feeds are formulated for birds that are destined for the dinner table, need to be big and done quickly. Peafowl are ornamental by nature, a bird that can live 30 years and in many cases is penned with limited activity. Many feeds are doable. But for many peafowl owners, they are looking for what is best for their birds.
