I went to the feed store to buy feed for the dozen chicks I have. The only size they had was 25 lbs. I read somewhere not to buy more than 2-3 weeks worth. Something tells me my dozen won't be able to eat 25 lbs of feed in that time frame. Is there a way to store some, in bags in the fridge? I have more chicks coming at the end of the month and really would hate to waste the feed or worse, have them not eat it because it is old. Anyone have any tricks to keep it fresh longer?
Thanks,
Krista

I buy quite a bit of feed at a time , I keep it stored in a dry place where rodents and so forth can't get to it,
You'll be surprised how fast and how much those chicks will eat. I think the whole thought behind not buying much at a time is to avoid mold. The price of 25lb bags is a little more expensive than buying in 50lb bags at our local TSC. I store my unopened bags in plastic barrels with lids.
