Feed question

I am hoping to start intergaration with my chicks soon. Chicks and layers need different diets. How can my chicks eat there feed and my hens eat there’s without them eating one another’s?

Starter/grower or an all flock (crumble) for all with oyster shell in a separate dish.

Like many others on BYC, I give everyone an all-flock feed. All the time.

This may be a dumb question but if I mix the chick feed with layer feed will that work? I just picked up new bags of feed today chick and layer.

2 options are give the whole flock an all flock feed or give everyone grower feed, have oyster shells on the side. I give my whole flock starter/grower feed year round with oyster shells on the side (the brand I use doesn’t have an all flock).

Can you eat the eggs when the Hans are on grower?

This may be a dumb question but if I mix the chick feed with layer feed will that work? I just picked up new bags of feed today chick and layer.

If you can make the mix to be under 2% calcium, it could work.

Yes.

Absolutely. Grower feed is just higher in protein and some other nutrients and lower in calcium (hence providing oyster shells on the side). I notice more benefits with grower than 16% layer.

If you can make the mix to be under 2% calcium, it could work.

I am assuming oyster strong feed is not under 2% calcium
