I have 5 sweet 10 week old buff orpingons that are currently one chick starter. When do I change over a hen feed and what kind should I use?

Thanks in advance

Most people here seem to keep them on starter until they're old enough to lay (about 20 weeks I think). Layer feed has too much calcium for chicks.

I would use flock layer feed up to about 16-20 weeks.
What you use is up to you.
What is in here is "best methods".
I would after 16 weeks use possibly high protein pellets with oyster shell.
Note on oyster shell...don't use too much because I have learned it can cause liver damage to hens if given too much.
I would watch the eggs, if they are thin and breaking, use the oyster shell as a supplement.
