Feed store breeds

Sort of surprised your store wants to stay so "generic" Our feed stores in this area bring in the standard list of things and always includes the harder to find heritage breeds during the "chick" season of March - May. They always sell out w/in a day and I have never seen them have too many that go over the weekend. Of course they had a bin of Buff Orphingtons that were now two weeks old and half price just to move them out. Add Maran's to the list and some other real dark egg layers like Welsummer. They always sell well.

Ditto the Barred Rocks. They are the most reliable layers I know. And I also second the Marans. Gotta have those "chocolate" eggs!

Barred Rocks
Rhode Island Reds
White Leghorns
White Rocks
Red Sex-Links
Black Sex-Links
Easter Eggers

Some heritage (as in non-broad breasted) turkeys would be good too.

i got blue andalusions and a silver spangle hamburg from my local co-op. i like interesting chickens

Ditto what everyone else said.

And I would also suggest Bantam breeds since they're a good seller.

People go crazy over Silkies!

Thank you for all of your feedback!! Unfortunalty I'm not able to order the breeds (hence the "generic" selection), but I'll definetly try to pass on all of your opinions!

Dark Brahmas, Light Brahmas, Welsummer plus heritage/dual purpose breeds like Barred Rocks. I met a lady that drove 2 hours to get Welsummers. Of course I drove to the same store 2 hours away (we live a few miles apart--who knew) to get my dark Braahma. I would have bought Welsummers too but they had all been reserved weeks in advance.

We actually got in some Silver Laced Polish a couple weeks ago, and it took a week to sell 18 of them (of course I took a few), so I don't think we'll be trying any more of these. But I definetly agree with quite a few of you. I really wish we had Game Cornish and Speckled Sussex. I wanted to try them both, but I wasn't able to:/
