Hello!

My local free store is out of layer mash for my hens. I have 15 hens a year old that are laying daily and I need feed so I bought the broiler feed as a temporary substitute. Now I’m second guessing if it’s ok to feed my layer hens. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thank you!

Do you have oyster shell available?
What is the protein content of the broiler feed? I would keep the layer protein to 20% max.
Did they have any chick starter, Flock Raiser or All Flock?
Hi! The broiler feed is 19% protein. Right now they have access to grit, water and every other day they receive a small amount of treats (bits of lettuce or watermelon rinds, etc.)
