feed tray questoin.

this is the feed tray that i'm gonna make for my chickens.

if u can tell what i'm building, how wide should the 2 boards that make a V be apart at the top?
how tall should it be?
any help is helpful.

Looks good. Depending on how many chicks your feeding on size. I would think 6-8 inches on top. I would put some kind of wire top on it so they can't scratch all the feed out. Make the wire so they can only get their heads in to the feed. I would also build it where the sides were about back height to the chicks as this will also help prevent waste. Good Luck
