I’ve had my chicks out in the coop since they were 4 weeks old so I started out with their food & water in the coop but my plan is to only keep it in the run. My question is, do they need to be a certain age before I quit putting food & water inside the coop

Good topic, I plan on moving mine out into the coop here in about a week or so. They’ll be about 5 weeks old. Ive heard different opinions about keeping food and water in the coop. But with it being hot down here where I live is it imperative I keep both or at least water in the coop for the night when they are in there? They’ll be locked up and they won’t have access to the outside food and water sources.

We have a small feeder in the coop (bought it at Fleet Farm and it’s actually a baby pig feeder) but otherwise have water and 2 more feeders in the run. During winter months, I keep a heated waterer in the covered/somewhat insulated run and have not had issues with that setup either.

They don't wake up in the night to eat or drink... but if they wake up way before the pop door is opened, then yes, water in the coop is good.
