Wanting to mix some feed for my chickens stuff like sunflower seeds oats corn etc can someone give me some more ideas thanks

Hi there.
Because the winters are slightly colder where I live,
I mix in some mixed corn with the layers pellets.
I feed this to all of my breeding and egg laying flocks.
The reason I feed them some corn is the corn is fattening for the hens,
So it will give them a small layer of fat for warmth.
You don't want to feed them too much.
I usually do a 4-2 mix.
with more layers pellets than mixed corns,
Goodluck,
Fionn.

I feed a higher protein all flock ration than also feed some cracked and whole corn and some black oil sunflower seeds. Feeding extra stuff like corn when feeding layer can leave birds protein deficient because corn lowers overall daily protein intake. Layer is usually 16% which is daily minimum requirements. Feeding a higher ration with 18-20% can offset that and keep birds healthy.

Chickens do better on pre made diets that have all the balanced nutrition....Everything else is a filler.......

I never give my birds any BOSS...I use scratch grains once a week...I buy old style scratch that has less corn......

5% of daily ration meaning 1 tablespoon per bird...per day.....I feed treats once a week in either veggies, scratch or Alfalfa hay....

Cheers!

I mix Crack corn and layer pellets at a 50-50 ratio. Some say yes some say don't. It's up to you what you feed as long as your birds are getting the nutrients they need. Just watch them. They will tell u if they r not getting what they need. Their appearance and actions will tell the tale

Their is a reason people say" Don't"..........Corn is not good for Chickens......Just a Tip...........

Cheers!
