Feedback on Learning Center "Treats Chart"

Sorry if info about grass clippings has been posted on here, but my eyes get VERY fatigued reading and I've read through about 12 pages or so and just can't read anymore right now. Hubby mowed an area where the grass was REALLY tall, almost knee high, and wanted me to give the clippings to the chickens. I balked, and put them in a compost pile because I'd heard NOT to feed grasses to chickens. So is it okay to give them to them or not?? Thanks!

People have reported some issues with impacted crop. I would think that if the grass is really long, that might be even more of a problem. Other people report no problems with the regular grass clippings which, I assume, are not "knee high." I don't feed mine grass clippings, so I have no experience with it...just what I've read.

Great List Buff...How soon is it possible to give chicks "treats" ? My girls are starting their 5th week and we have given mealworms, strawberries and dandelions flowers. They love the worms and strawberries but I don't want to give them overload. The girls will be moving outside in a few weeks and will be somewhat free range.

Yay Chicks! :

Thank you! I had heard the same info which is why I didn't feed them to the chickens, but hubby thinks I'm an idiot I think. Oh well.

I've come across several warnings about grass clippings, but don't most back yard birds have access to lawn? Mine do, and they seem to love eating the grass as much as the pests they find hiding there!
Is it just the longer clippings that are bad for them? I guess the bits sized pieces they break off are ok?

Great post, many thanks, but not sure if its me or not -the 5 links at the bottom of the page - i can only connect to one Toxic plants). Not sure if they are outdated now. xx
