I've been hearing alot lately about giving ducks feeder fish. What I don't know is, when can they start getting them? I know where to get Rosies [ if you don't know, they're about the size of your fingernail grow at tops to 1 inch in length that I've seen]. My ducks are about a week old. Should I start introducing the feeders now or later? They're already trying to dive and all of that, so I know they wouldn't be afraid to chase them.

New to ducks, I honestly don't know. -shrug-

Be careful getting them from petshops. Most of the time, they've been roughly handled and end up with diseases and bacterial growth on them. Check to see if you can find the actual suppliers for local garden shops or bait shops. Other than that, sorry that I cannot help you, mine are just two weeks old and this is the first that I've heard of really feeding them "bait".

wait till there a month old thats when i first started mine and i also feed them medium sized crickets they love it and eat it all at once and they come to me to so thats good

yes, what i do to intoduce them to eating them is i put them in my hand and hand feed them first, then while there whatching me i put them in the kiddie pool and they dive down trying to eat them and chase them they love it its like a game.

I give our ducks feeder fish sometimes, and they never had to learn. It's seriously the most fun they have all week.

Also, if you know a cheap bait store, shad minnows aren't bad either.
