feeder for oyster shell

thank you.

its a wall mount, cage mount. it has a quick detach slide lock. I figured if I have to fill and or clean it, it makes it easy.

I also kinda put it under the nesting box board to keep poo from winding in it. other than the pine shavings in it its been clean so far.

small recycled water bottles - crushed egg shell, oyster shell and grit

I've since enlarged the hole at the top, but you get the idea

I do something similar, only I use two recycled Vienna sausage cans. Use a large nail to punch 3 or 4 holes funnel like holes in the bottom so that no water stands in the can. Drill a set of four holes in the sides, 2 close to the top and 2 near the bottom of the side, 2 at the top and two near the bottom 90 degrees apart. Next hang the cans near the roost with electric fence wire or zip ties were it can be accessed from the roost. That will provide perhaps 10 hens with 5 ounces of grit and an equal amount of oyster shell which should hold most 10 hen flocks for a year. [Disclamier] Your mileage may vary.

Me too. It's really okay for chickens to eat from the ground, and scratching around gives them something to do. No worries about it getting wet--it's the shell of an oyster, water isn't going to hurt it at all.

I agree that it can be thrown. I throw BOSS and scratch every day for them, but I can keep tract of the oyster shell in a cup and it will not be wasted.

My inventive husband took some scrap PVC pipe and made a feeder and an oyster shell dispenser that can be filled from outside the enclosure!
