I posted this on another thread for chicken brooders, but I have used it for my quail and it works really well.
I had a wild bird feeder that I wasn't using anymore and it was just sitting around. It suction cups to a window so you can see the birds while your doing dishes or whatever and it had a thermometer on it too.
I stick it to the inside of my rubbermaid brooder so that they can eat but it's almost impossible for them to poop in or scratch out the feed. It's worked wonderfully for me and I have very little waste if any. I've also used this on my outdoor quail pen. I just pulled the suction cup through one of the holes in the wire and put it high enough that they can eat, but not dig through it.

I think that I got it at Wal-Mart, but that's been quite a few years ago. I'm sure that they have some type that would still work well. Hope that helps someone! I love hearing new ideas.

Here's a link to something similar on ebay that uses pop bottles.

YOU CAH ALWAYS CUT A "WINDOW" OUT OF THE CAGE WIRE DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE FEED TROUGH PART? THAT WAY THEY CAN REACH THROUGH AND EAT...

Thanks!
It wouldn't work for me to place this one on the outside because the part you pull out to fill pulls away from the suction cup. I'm trying to think how I can make some more for myself using a pop bottle, hmmm....
If anyone comes up with anything, let me know! I'm so "cheep" when it comes to my birds. I try to recycle things that I find laying around as much as I can.

I just use the bases of the quart jar chick feeders (without the jar), they seem to do okay with that. My cages that have larger groups have either the long metal chick feeders or the half-sized metal chick feeders. The only 'waste' there is on feed is when the stupid rats figure out how to get in the cages again, so far this hasn't happened yet...this time

you can take 1 1/4 inch pvc pipe and 1 L and 1 cap and make nice feeders out of them. cut a 14 inch piece that mounts on outside put on the L then put 5 or 6 inch piece with a cap on the end and cut slot in the 5 or 6 inch piece they eat out of. i refill mine every couple days.sojono.
