What type of feeders do you all use for your cornish X... I am getting ready to move mine into the tractor .. Judging by how they have been the last two days since i started 12 hr food I am afraid they will kill eachother trying to get to the feeder... I am wanting to see what you all use as feeders for your meaties... i am thinking of doing a pvc tube with that is gravitiy fed with out the worry of them rampling eachother...

you definitely need a long feeder that they can get on both sides of. I use 2 4 ft long galvanized feeders and also have cut the bottoms off of 3 of 5 gallon buckets about 3 inches deep for extra feed areas.
they will trample all over each other if you don't have enough for them all to get to it. I had 50 last year, and have 60 2wk olds right now.

i saw the pvc tube ones on another post and they look like they would be great - and inexpensive to make.

In my tractors I took 4" pvc and attached it to the sides of the tractor. I put in 4 - 4' feeders. 1 at each end and 1 on each side. Cut out a 2" strip across the top side and put in feed.

I Love this idea... I think I may actually have some left over guttering at my house.. Great idea... Thanks

When you figure out how to make the gutter feeder such that you can fill it from outside the pen, let us know.

I did the PVC and we cut two sets of holes down each side....works great, they just line right up. I do have to tilt it to get the food to slide down though. I just lift the whole feeder out at night. In my other pen I have a round feeder. Between the two feeder, all 39 can feed at once.

I made a PVC feeder last year that was sort of L shaped, thinking that gravity would work to dispense the feed. Didn't quite work that way even when I left the feeder section on a slant.

I to have the same question. I have a single 30lb hanging feeder for my 28 nuggets (although ive been told they are getting to big to be called nuggets so the new name shall be "tenders") I am thinking im going to need to had addtional linear feet soon.

what i think is key is how MUCH feeder (linear feet) per # of birds.

do you need 10' of rain gutter for 25 birds...or more like 100 birds.

so its nice to have all the feedback on what kind of feeder, but lets get some bird counts in there to so we can compare.

So how do you adjust the height of the feeder to prevent waste, contaminated or wet feed and discomfort to the bird from the feeder being to high
