Feeders For your Cornish X

One more thought on the 12 on 12 off. Most people who do this are raising on pasture, so the birds are not totally going hungry. They have grass, leaves, and bugs, so they will get a (very) little eating in during waking hours, even if the feeders are empty.

I read Salatin's book and I don't recall him purposely withholding food. The troughs might run out, but they are not removed.

My chickens? I have not done enough to justify having an opinion, I'm here to learn.

Well, since mine our out like Salatins.... it would be tough to run lights to individual pens. I just try to get mine on a daylight feeding schedule around 3 weeks. Nothing special, but when the lights turn off, they do not eat, they obviously sleep.

If you don't condition them before they go out onto pasture they huddle and freak out, so it's best to condition them first. I have enough feeders for about 2/3 of them to eat anyways and in the morning they get up very slowly with the daylight. It's not like flicking a switch and they all run to the feeders, they eat a few at a time as some like to sleep in...

I do not have any experience with either nor know much about them so I have no recomendations. Both of them seem to have attributes for non commercial production.
Is the Cobb/Sasso available in the US?
