I believe wild birds are one of the worst carriers of internal parasites, mites & lice. I use hanging or trough feeders for my chickens & these are an oasis of food for wild birds which enjoy pillaging & crapping in them. Most of the covered feeders I've seen with a low, acceptably large overhead lip over the feed trough are 50# feeders & I don't need anything that large. If anyone can make a suggestion I would sure appreciate it. My only other alternative is to build a mobile roofed frame for feed areas. Even then the little flying troublemakers will find their way to the feed.

Anything your birds can get to other birds can get to.

My opinion is you have to keep them covered and penned up or you will continue to have this problem or get a dog.

My dog loves my birds but likes to chase the birdies...

Also you may want to consider live and let live and get used to them around. Those are my options.
