Feeding 1 and a half week chicks watermelon scraps

We have some watermelon scraps and I'm wondering if we can feed the 12 day old chicks them? Thanks

I'm thinking they may be a little young for anything other than starter mash. You might want to wait several weeks more before introducing other foods. At three months my girls were given all kinds of fruit and veggie scraps but by then they had graduated to grow-out mash. Good luck.

Would they eat watermelon if they had been hatched naturally and running around the barnyard. You can bet your bottom dollar on it. They would be eating anything and everything. It may not be the best thing in the world for them, but it won't hurt them.

I think it would be fine. You just don't want them to get too full on it over a long period of time to where they don't have room for their starter. I agree, if they were with their mom, she would have them eating it thats for sure!
