I have been feeding my 3month olds chix starter
and have 12 in one brooder..that are eating me out of house and home,
about 1 1/2.. lbs a day ...is this possible? I think they only weigh about a lb.each..LOl
or is there a secret admirer to their menu that is
having
breakfast with them..also have 7 in another brooder that dont eat as much..any one know how much your flock eats..?

That sounds about right to me. 1/8 pound per day each. They'll eat at least twice that much, by the time the are full grown.

Well it all depends on if your feeding on demand.....with constant food available or if you have a feeding limit on them. I have 7 hens that I buy a 50 lb bag about every Month, Sometimes more then that. I feed them every morning and afternoon and that's it. I also free range them....so they find some of thier own food, and treats now and then....which helps on the cost of feed. Keeping chickens can be very expensive.

With 7 hens @ 50 lbs. per month, you are just under 1/4 lb, per chicken , per day. That's a little less than the average.
