Feeding a Broody and Chicks?

So I've been wondering, if you have a broody and her chicks in a little broody coop together, what do they eat since chicks can't have layer food?
Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Mama doesn't need layer food since she isn't laying while raising chicks anyway. Its fine for her to have chick starter.
