Feeding a sick duck?

My duck hasn’t been eating for about a week now and I’m really worried about her! 9 days ago she seemed to have trouble laying an egg, which did come out but without a fully formed shell. She kept on pushing for the next couple of days and her appetite gradually dwindled until she won’t eat anything we give her, including mushed peas and porridge. We took her to the vets 2 days ago and they thought she either had peritonitis or was egg bound, and gave us antibiotics and meloxaid to give her, but she generally struggles against it so I’m not sure how much of it she has been getting! She has been lying down pretty much all of the time but still gets up to drink, and after starting to give her painkillers she seems to be resuming more normal activities like cleaning herself and dabbling but she’s still not eating and is now very skinny. We have now put sugar in her water but is there anything else we can do?

They didn't examine your ducks or do an xray to see if she was egg bound? they could have given her a shot of calcium gluconate to help her pass an egg. I'd go to TSC and get her some calcium gluconate and start giving that to her it would be best to give it to her over something like peas but if she isn't eating I guess a small bowl of water with the cal gluconate mixed it may help but if it's infection the antibiotic may help.

Thank you for the link! They said that doing an X Ray was possible but the total costs would be about £500 for everything which is quite a lot as I’m not the one directly financing it! They did examine her and some sticky clear fluid came out of her which they thought could be egg white, and I’d pulled what seemed to be an egg membrane out of her a few days before. She’s definitely drinking so I’ll look into getting the calcium gluconate or her.
Sorry to keep on asking questions but do you think that she’s in imminent danger of dying from starvation?
Thank you! Polly :)

Can you call the vet and ask them if it would be a good idea to start some antibiotics and ask them if they will sell you a size 18 French urinary catheter and a 60 ml catheter tipped syringe (for tube feeding)?

I know you don't live around us but can you get the calcium gluconate? We get it at farm stores that sell feed and stuff like that. Also, you may be able to tube feed and @casportpony will be more than glad to help you with. Sounds like you need it.
I think I can! Thank you so much! Sorry for the late reply. I’ve got some experience stomach tubing lambs at least which helps :)
