My red stars are nine weeks old now and are on non medicated southern states all grain start and grow. They are doing great and look perfect. I decided this weekend to try some ACV in their water for the vitamins and also to keep slim down in this heat. I found Braggs ACV in the organic section at our store. This morning I put two cap fulls in a one gallon waterer and put it in the coop. They normally run over and take a sip of the fresh water then go off to do what chickens do. But this morning after their normal sip they kept drinking. It was like they actually liked the ACV water. How often should I dose the water. Is everyday too much?

My chicks got ACV in the water from the beginning. I use 1 tablespoon per gallon or 1 teaspoon per quart.

I began this last year with pullets and - like you - noticed that they drank more when I began to add the ACV.

I try to do it everyday but sometimes it's every few days. I had to cut back to one tsp per gallon as they slowed down drinking it. Last time I used straight water and they drank more of it. Who knows what's the best.

I put Bragg's ACV in the water every day. I use 1 T per gallon of water, and they do seem to enjoy it more than plain water - discovered this during a stretch of unseasonably hot weather about a month ago - I added an extra water source to the yard, which didn't have ACV but was easier to access, and they still returned to the coop to drink from the ACV water.

I also add a teaspoon to my dog's food a couple times per week. He is no longer capable of melting the skin off your face with his atomic air biscuits.
