Feeding baby royal palms. 1/4 died today

I got turkeys from a friend who fed the medicated chick starter for 4 weeks, then I fed them flock raiser until they were 10 weeks. They both started developing leg problems early on and I was seriously considering putting them down. They can walk now, but it's pathetic looking. They really really hate jumping up and down from ledges.. even as small as 1 foot. I would really try to find game bird feed for the first 8 weeks. They seem to have pulled out of it, they graze with the rest of the birds.. but I wish I had done things differently.

I got a royal palm that I fed flock raiser to for the first 3 or 4 weeks(before I realized flock raiser is for 8 weeks and up). I switched over to game bird and it's currently around 8-10 weeks old with no leg problems. It might vary from heritage breeds versus broad-breasted(meat) turkeys.

Okay. Thank you! I am getting Game Bird Starter this Saturday. Hopefully, I haven't done any damage. They get bugs all the time. Like the happy hen treats, live crickets, and other live things.

I start my poults on 28% protein non-medicated turkey starter crumbles, plus I given them a mixture of yogurt, egg yolk, crumbles + warm water.
I put applecider vinager, maple syrup & vitamin drops in their water for the 1st week, then just ACV.
I dip their beaks daily in the water & crumbles mix for about a week..just to make sure they get the idea of drinking & eating. Some will chow down the 1st day,
while others will just sit there oblivous to the food & water. You really have to work with young poults for about 2 week, unlike ducklings & chicks that start eating
& drinking the second you put them in the brooder.

Why maple syrup?

They eat and drink fine. I ran out of electrolytes and ACV yesterday. :/
I also gave them a tub with some sand/grit. And they pick at it occasionally.

I feed the medicated Turkey starter. I know your pain, we lost 4 of 6 the 2nd day when the light went out because of a stupid GFI outlet tripped. I give them ACV water in a sealed 5 gal bucket with nipples on it, they learned to use it before the chickens did. So maybe turkey aren't as dumb as we think?

I think they are smart on somethings. They learned how to perch quickly. They also know the feed scoop and happy hen treat bag. xD

Maple syrup, brown sugar, molasses ... any of these can be used, just a small amount to 1 gallon of water,
adds extra carbs for them. I only add this for the 1st week.
