during the slaughter season I end up with several hundred pounds of fresh meat trimmings such as fat, livers, ect. can I run this stuff through my grinder, freeze it and feed it to my flock? thanks

What kind of meat? I have feed my hens the organ meat of rabbits. I just chopped it up and fed it. I probably should have cooked it but didn't think about it at the time. Grinding it up and cooking it like little burger patties with egg to bind it sounds like a nice treat. Maybe add a little oatmeal also.

I will admit, I'm not an expert...yet.

Yes, you can!

We freeze venison scraps and organ meat so we can feed it to our chickens over the winter. I seldom cook it, just thaw it, chop it, and feed it to them raw.

I also confess that most times when someone gives me venison, I feed it to the chickens. Most folks don't prep the meat as well as we do, and I don't like the taste. I always cook that meat before I give it to my birds. Just because I don't know how well it was cleaned.
