Feeding Chickens

Can you feed chickens,
sweet potatoes and the skins??

I read that once they turn green from the sun that they are toxic and I would not try to feed the anything besides grains grit and feed!

I have read that regular white potatoes are harmful, but I was wondering about sweet potatoes?? And their peelings?? Would they be a good treat??

If you can/could eat it so can they. In the last 4-5 years I have fed them about everything as PART of there diet, including all kinds of potato's and skins.

My birds get all the kitchen scraps, sometimes there are potatoe skins in there. Mind you, there are regular white potatoes, not sweet potatoes.

We have fed cooked potatoes and their skins with no problems to chickens (regular and sweet). I wouldn't feed uncooked though.

Some things humans can eat are not good for chickens.

You can feed all types of potatoes to chickens, but you should cook the potatoes first. You need to also throw away any green skin on the potatoes before you feed the potatoes to chickens.
