Feeding chicks

Can I feed my chicks that are 6/8 weeks old scraps or are they still to young.
I've been feeding my chicks some scraps, and we received them April 27. I only give them vegetable or bread-like scraps, though. I don't know if I'm right, but I try to keep the "richer" scraps for the big hens. Hope this helps!

Generally I like to keep them on just starter for the first six weeks in the brooder. It assures they are getting a balanced diet. After that it is not a critical. Now if they are being raised by a broody and she is free range, she has them eating what ever she can find from their first outing. Chicks can handle all sorts of food from day one. Its making sure they have that good start is the reason to hold off giving them other things. So yours are not too young to start on scraps. While they are growing you do want to watch that they get enough protein though.
